Meeting the Brief

 

Overall, I feel like I met the brief for this mini final major project to my best ability, and I was satisfied with the outcomes of all of them, with my research and with my practical tasks. 

 

Research 

 

For the research part in this entire mini project, I feel like it didn’t go that bad. There was however a lot of repetition in some of the research, most of the subjects were just of the same but with different information each time. I feel like this kind of workflow was a bit tedious at times and also, the reason for it being, that I struggled to find any more subjects on specific VFX that interested me and that I found worth talking about and putting research into. 

However, I don’t know how I could change my technique of research for the future, this was the best I feel like I could have done. One thing I could think of was to try and narrow down my focus on certain parts of the research that I will do. This might be done for my future research in my final major project.

 

Effects 

 

I feel like the effects I made from all my research and for my film scene weren’t that bad, I feel like I improved a lot during my tests and my research, all of which made up for the quality of the effects in the final short film procedure. At first, all the tests effect (before implementing them into the film) weren’t that effective, they were low quality in my opinion and hade a few problems, all of which I improved on and made better in the final film, which then looked a lot better and fit the scenes in the film really well. One effect that didn’t really fit well with the film was the green screen effect, the background didn’t look that convincing and will be taken into account in my next project. 

 

Workflow Effectiveness 

 

My workflow through the entirety of this mini project was different thought it. Some parts I worked more fluently and others took a bit more time. For the whole research part of this project, it took a while to find the right content I was looking for and even longer to write up about it, as I am very meticulous with the information I process and always try to make sure I get it right. Doing the test effects for this project took a little less time to make but still quite long, compared to the effects made in the film which took me the least amount of time, and I was more efficient for it. 

What I might change for next time is, again, the way I research into information, being more efficient about it. 

 

Scope of the Project 

 

Personally, I always feel challenged when I have to research into anything, because I always struggle to find the right information that I find suitable for the subject, as said above. 

Another thing is that I also didn’t really challenge myself when making the final film in this project because I didn’t really have the time to try anything crazy and implement it into my film.

 

Time Management

 

I feel like I managed my time just correctly, I was on time for submitting all my tasks on the due dates, that mainly came from my task timeline I made at the beginning of the project. 

Autonomous Learning

 

At the beginning of the project, and in general, I struggled to work independently and without help, as at first, I struggle to get my head around a couple of things in the project and the reequipments. But that’s just it, I realized, that there are just a couple of things I don’t get but I manage to get around them after a long time of thinking and planning. 

The moments in this project when I was challenged this way, I overcame by just simply searching on the internet for the answer or asking the teacher for a pointer.

Pride 

 

There were only a couple of things I was proud of when making this project, but I was most proud of the effects I created in my final film scene, they were better quality than the tests I had made, and it was quicker for me to make.

 

Skills 

 

Personally, I feel like I developed more of my skills on the After Effects program, with more tools and techniques that were available on it for me. Also, I might not notice it now, but I feel like with all the research I’ve done for this project and for past projects, I’m slowly developing my research skills with searching for it on the internet and writing up about it as well.

 

Future

 

For the changes I’ll make to my mindset when doing my final major project will be to be more active and concentrated on the tasks in this project to get it done in time. I know I stated above that I seemed to get all the tasks I needed to finish for this project on time and on date, but in reality, I spend a lot of time over thinking that tasks I need to do and it ends up taking me a lot longer to finish than for a normal person to complete, therefore making it difficult for me to try out more difficult and time consuming techniques for effects and for research.
